Shaun of the Dead Character Analysis

Shaun is the hopeless main character of ‘Shaun of the dead’ who's life used to be monotonous until one his life crumbles apart. His dead end relationship is forced to a halt after the love of his life, Liz, decides his little effort is beyond bare able and they need to go their separate ways. The heartbreaks makes shaun realises he need to get his life back on track. However, he decides to do this just as a zombie apocalypse breaks out.
Although the timing of this outbreak might be unfortunate, Shaun uses it within his power to try prove to Liz he is the heroic boyfriend she longs for. The storyline fits into the horror genre because it is based on zombies as well as having some ‘jumpy’ moments. Shaun of the dead could also be considered as a horror film because it has some aspects of being a slasher film as it contains a lot of gore and blood when murdering the zombies. 

However, Shaun's general charisma contradicts the stereotype of most heroes as he does not have ‘super powers’, is he not confident or anything out of the ordinary.
